Who Should You Trust for Your HVAC Installation?

We hope for your sake that you are not in need of a heating system installation right now, when we’re in the coldest part of the year. If you’ve come across this blog post, however, chances are that you’re either in the midst of shopping for a new heater or consider your next air conditioner purchase before the weather warms up again. We understand the temptation to rush into a purchase such as this, when you need your comfort control systems the most. But we really want to encourage you to take your time!

It’s important to trust only a trained professional for your HVAC installation, for a number of reasons. There is a high level of work that goes into a job of this caliber, and this work contributes to your comfort as well as the efficacy of your HVAC system and your safety. Keep reading to learn more about the steps our techs go through during an HVAC installation.

Removing the Old System

You might actually be surprised to learn that this can be the most laborious and lengthy part of an HVAC installation job. It’s more than simply pulling out the old system—if we’re talking about a heater that is connected to your gas line then our installers have to make sure nothing is damaged or knocked out of place, and that no other connections are damaged.

We have to make sure there’s adequate room for the new HVAC system, and the space left behind by your old unit has to be properly prepared for the new system’s placement. Any potential safety hazards must be mitigated and we have to make sure that the new HVAC system is powered correctly for your space too. Too much power can be just as detrimental to efficiency as too little!

Making All the Connections

Once your new HVAC system has been placed, our technicians will connect the system to the important components of your home, such as the ventilation system (your air ducts).

This requires hooking the system up correctly, without damaging the somewhat fragile ductwork. Oftentimes, ducts need to be shifted and adjusted to make these connections, and mistakes can happen here.

The next step our installers make is connecting the HVAC system to its power source. Making the connection to a gas line is a job that has to be performed carefully, by a specially licensed professional, so if it’s a gas-powered heater, you have that to consider. Next is the wiring. Even gas-powered systems require some electrical wiring! With the potential fire hazards present during this step (if not done correctly, that is) it’s easy to see why you should only trust a pro.

Testing Your HVAC System

This is the final step of the process, but certainly not the least important. If our technicians left your home after making the last connection and simply called it a day, you wouldn’t know if your furnace or air conditioner was working as efficiently or as safely as it’s meant to.

Our technicians will turn on your system, measuring the intake and airflow to see that the performance is on par and to check that there are no potential hazards.
